Christmas Eve we made it down to San Diego, where my brother who is a Navy chaplain is stationed. They just recently purchased a home there and it was their first Christmas in their new home. My little nephew's birthday is Christmas Eve, so we started our visited there with a birthday party. He turned 3. He's all boy, and thinks he Spiderman. He's really so cute.

We also had the privileged of going to a Christmas Eve service in the chapel on Coronado Island, where my brother is currently stationed. Coronado Island is where many retired Navy live as well as where they train Navy Seals.

Christmas Day my Uncle drove my grandpa down and we had a big Christmas dinner. My Grandpa is 94 and he still does 30 pushups everyday. He says he ONLY does 30 now because his back starts to hurt. Pretty sure I can't do 30 pushups at age 30. It was great to see him and my Uncle as well.

The rest of our trip was packed with activities. The girls Christmas present from my parents was to go to Build a Bear, so we did that. We visited the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that they have now turned into a museum. That was probably one of my favorite things that we did. It was really cool. That ship could hold 5000 men. Amazing.

We visited a place called Old Town. It was this old Spanish town, that was what San Diego was like a few hundred years ago. We had THE BEST street tacos. YUM! Lee and I both said it would be our date night hot spot if we lived there.
And lastly, we went to Sea World, the girls Christmas present from us. We had the best time together. The girls loved it. Klara Jane stayed awake the entire day. I have no idea how she was functioning. Ana got soaked at the Shamu show. We were at the very top of the splash section, and all the other sections people barely got wet, but on THE LAST event of the show, Shamu soaked our section good, and even at the top, we got wet...mainly Ana, which she wasn't too keen on at the time (tears, tears)...but it's a good story for her now. Thankfully...we paid $5 extra for up close parking. We were able to run to the car and change her clothes. So thankful I had a hunch to bring extra clothes for everyone.

Then later that day we were visiting the dolphins. We were patiently waiting our turn to go up to the wall and see them. Isabel just got up to the wall. The dolphin was coming right up to her. She reached out to touch him...and he SOAKED her, head to toe. That was a bit traumatic too (at the time), but again...a good story now:)
They a had a lot of stuff for little kids, rides, climbing things, etc. The whole kids section was Sesame Street themed. Very cute and fun.

So...that's our California trip in a nutshell. I'm sure I could say so much more, but it will be something we remember for a long time. I hope.
